Tokyo Journal Executive Editor and President of Sister Cities International Southern California Chapter Dr. Anthony Al-Jamie attended a celebration of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan’s birthday at the residence of Japan Consul General Akira Chiba this afternoon. In addition at this garden party were numerous city and local officials, members of Los Angeles’s Japanese community and special guests of the Japan Consul General in Los Angeles. According to SCI SoCal President, Dr. Al-Jamie, it was a gala event. “I was pleased to see several members of various sister cities in attendance today along with many of our dear friends from the Japanese American community. The weather was perfect for today’s outdoor event and I’m very grateful to Consul General Chiba for hosting such a gala event that included the opportunity for guests to view a tea ceremony demonstration. Since Consul General Chiba’s arrival in Los Angeles, he has done a tremendous job of bringing the community together and has worked tirelessly to attend many of our sister city events.”
