SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SISTER CITIES

SPONSORSHIP PACKAGE

Sister Cities International Southern California Chapter, Inc. Board of Directors

Sponsorship Committee Chair:
Anthony Al-Jamie – 714-673-4375
E-mail: admin@socalsistercities.org

The Sister City Program is a living legacy left by the late President Dwight D. Eisenhower. He initiated the program in 1956, as a new approach to securing peace around the world through the establishment of personal, people-to-people friendships between Americans and the peoples of other nations.

President Eisenhower deplored the fact that throughout history, international diplomacy had failed to prevent war. He foresaw that the people-to-people idea, fostered by a Sister City program involving hundreds of thousands of people in cities throughout the world could be a massive form of citizen diplomacy that might succeed in doing what the nations of the world had been unable to accomplish through diplomatic efforts.

Sister Cities International Southern California Chapter, Inc. (SoCal Sister Cities) was established as an extension of Sister Cities International in Southern California (SCI).

  1. SoCal Sister Cities services SCI members from San Luis Obispo to the Mexico Border;
  2. SoCal Sister Cities Board of Directors provides information and organizational support for SCI members with existing affiliations throughout the world and for those wishing to establish such programs.
  3. SoCal Sister Cities serves as a clearinghouse for information, as a reference source for SCI members and as an information source on matters of protocol.

SoCal Sister Cities convenes a Conference, several regional meetings, and events in cities throughout Southern California yearly. Delegates from affiliated cities gather to discuss, share programs and hear from speakers on topics that enhance the citizen diplomacy people-to-people program of the local sister city programs. Business matters conducted at these meetings include various workshops, which offer information on creation of community alliance for the purpose of conducting student exchanges, fund-raising advice, and any other subjects, which are of general interest to the member cities and their sister city relationship abroad.

SoCal Sister Cities seeks the support of tax-deductible sponsorships that go towards “Building Bridges to Peace and Harmony” and youth scholarships.

We thank sponsors for their generous support of the Sister Cities world peace mission.
