Confirmation of Roberta Jacobson as US Ambassador to Mexico

On Thursday, April 29th, United States Senate confirmed Ambassador Roberta Jacobson, as the new US ambassador to Mexico. The Embassy in Mexico is of strategic importance and deserves a leader of her caliber.

Ambassador Jacobson has led a highly distinguished career in public service and has a high degree of familiarity with Mexico.

Ambassador Jacobson understands the role of civil society in improving binational relations. Her support was critical to the launch of the USMF’s Mexican American Leadership Initiative (MALI), a program created to provide Americans of Mexican heritage with opportunities to reconnect with their country of origin and to promote understanding and collaboration between U.S. society and Mexico. “Ambassador Jacobson has addressed the need for stronger friendships and ties between both countries with a sense of shared responsibility and high level of commitment on key binational issues, ranging from economic competitiveness, to security, to academic exchanges.”

US/Mexico sister city programs look forward to working with the new ambassador on mutual goal of strengthening understanding and cooperation between the US and Mexico.
