Congratulations to the 2015 Young Artists and Authors Showcase Winners! One of the finalists, Tamalika De is from Culver City, California!

Sister Cities International is proud to announce the winners and finalists of the 2015 Young Artists and Authors Showcase! For over two decades, the Young Artists and Authors Showcase has given youth from around the globe the opportunity to express their vision for a more unified, peaceful world through original artwork, literature, and, new this year, short film.

The 2015 Showcase encouraged youth to submit entries inspired by the theme “Connecting Communities for Peace and Prosperity.”

"Making Connections" - Ainsley HolburaThe Young Artists Showcase (U.S.) Grand Prize winner is Ainsley Holbura from Scottsdale, Arizona for her artwork titled “Making Connections.”Finalists include “Red Thread” by Kianna Vallarde of Hampton, Virginia; “Piggyback around the World” by Tamalika De of Culver City, California; “Peace of Me” by Maia Micou of Suffolk, Virginia; and “Garden of Communities” by Andy Liu of Houston, Texas.

"The Peaceful Connection" - Kanako OnishiThe Young Artists Showcase (International) Grand Prize winner is “The Peaceful Connection” by Kanako Onishi from Yao, Japan.

Finalists include “Bond” by Ayaka Nakamura of Narashino City, Japan; “Peace” by Asako Okeya of Fukui City, Japan; “In a United Impulse!” by Julia Sokolova of Nizhny Novgorod, Russia; and “Inclusiveness Symbiosis” by Sun Peiyun of Tianjin, China.

The Young Authors Showcase (Essay) Grand Prize winner is Beibhinn Cullen of Tullamore, Ireland for her work titled “Connecting Communities for Peace and Prosperity.” Finalists include “Embracing Communities for Overall Prosperity” by John Ramlogan of Suffolk, Virginia and “Connecting Communities” by Max Ragno of Boynton Beach, Florida.

The Young Authors Showcase (Poetry) Grand Prize winner is Nathen Spitz of Osage, Iowa for his work titled “A World Like No One Has Known.” Finalists include “I Can” by Delaney Taylor of Suffolk, Virginia and “Pursuit of Peace” by Andrew Yancy of Phoenix, Arizona.

The Sister Cities Film Challenge Grand Prize winner is Bridget Galaty from Denver, Colorado for her short film titled “Denver Sister Cities: Leading a Global Movement.” The Honorable Mention is “The Impact of Give” by Daniella Cohen of Highland Park, Illinois.

The Grand Prize winners will each receive a $1,000 cash prize. The winners’ and finalists’ work will also be on display at Sister Cities International’s 2015 Annual Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota July 16-18. Following the Conference, the artwork will go on a tour to several cities across the U.S.
