Thank you for supporting SoCal Sister Cities. Your gift helps us build friendships between Southern California and communities around the world. This policy explains how donations are processed, how they are used and how to request a refund.

1. Our Nonprofit Status

Sister Cities International Southern California Chapter, Inc. is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (EIN 33-0607663). We are registered with the California Attorney General’s Registry of Charitable Trusts (CT0163170).

2. How Donations Are Processed

Online donations and membership payments are processed securely by PayPal. You can give with a PayPal account, Venmo or a credit or debit card. Your payment details are handled by PayPal and are never seen or stored by us.

3. Tax Deductibility

Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Unless we tell you otherwise, no goods or services are provided in exchange for your donation. Please consult your tax advisor about your own situation.

4. Receipts and Acknowledgments

PayPal emails you a receipt as soon as your donation is complete. Please keep it for your records. For a single gift of $250 or more, we will send a written acknowledgment for tax purposes. If you need a copy, contact us.

5. How We Use Your Gift

Donations support our chapter’s programs, including youth and cultural exchanges, community events and support for sister city relationships across Southern California. If you ask for your gift to support a specific program, we will honor that request whenever possible. If that program is fully funded or no longer available, we will use your gift where it is most needed.

6. Refunds

Donations are generally non-refundable. If you made a mistake, such as giving the wrong amount or being charged twice, please contact us within 30 days of the transaction. Include your name, the date, the amount and your PayPal transaction ID. Approved refunds are returned through PayPal to the original payment method.

7. Recurring Donations

If you set up a recurring gift, you can change or cancel it at any time from your PayPal account or by contacting us. Cancelling stops future payments; it does not refund past ones.

8. Donor Privacy

We do not sell, rent or trade donor information. We use it only to process and acknowledge your gift and to keep you informed about our work, as described in our Privacy Policy.
