3/9/19 SoCal Sister Cities Meeting in Laguna Beach

The quarterly/regional meeting was held on March 9th, 2019 at the Laguna College of Art + Design. Hosted by the Laguna Beach Sister Cities Association (LBSC), attendees were welcomed by LBSC President Maggie Hempen, LBSC Founding President Karyn Philippsen and Laguna Beach City Councilmember Toni Iseman. LBSC introduced its sister city programs in presentations themed “Laguna Beach is Art & Collaborations” featuring Artist in Residence & Beyond Gianne de Genevraye, 2019 Art Exchange Student Kate Landry-Lyons and Laguna College of Art + Design President Jonathan Burke. Former SCI SoCal President Gil Garcia and Max Flores, President of Fundacion Jalisco Migrant Clubs, spoke about opportunities for U.S.-Mexico cooperation. SCI SoCal President Anthony Al-Jamie led an interactive online activity that helped visualize shared challenges and values of sister city organizations, while Sister Cities International State Representatives Kathleen Roche-Tansey and Pat Fallin shared updates from Sister Cities International.
