5/20/17 Meeting in Santa Monica

SoCal Sister Cities President Dr. Anthony Al-Jamie

On Saturday, May 20th, 2017 the regional / quarterly meeting of Sister Cities International Southern California Chapter was held at “Expert Dojo” in Santa Monica Place in Santa Monica, California. Santa Monica Sister Cities Association President Jeff Jarow welcomed the attendees providing an overview of their association’s activities. City of Santa Monica Community Broadband Manager Gary Carter spoke on the city’s youth technology program. The city’s Climate & Energy Sustainability Analyst, Garrett Wong, spoke about the city’s sustainability programs. John McKenna, the Playing for Change Foundation Executive Director spoke about their initiatives for sister schools music exchange. SoCal Sister Cities Director William Tarpai spoke about Sustainable Development Goals, and David Winslow spoke about Culver Sister Cities Association’s marathon exchange.

In the afternoon regional meeting, the officers of the organization were elected for 2017-2018:
